Jobbit has been built to give you confidence when you need to select people or businesses to do some work for you. All too often you’ve probably had to get a tradesmen in to do something, such as service a boiler or plaster a wall, and you’ve not been able to get a recommendation from your friends or family. The “Do you know of a good plumber?” question to your friends often results in a “No, sorry, haven’t used one for ages,” or even a “I know of a plumber but I wouldn’t use him again,” kind of answer.
With Jobbit, you can post jobs that you need doing (be it gardening, roofing, or even to design a website - just about anything) and invite all registered users to bid for your work. Businesses and tradesmen will use Jobbit to search for work in their area of expertise, and they will bid for jobs that they are interested in.
If you post a job you will be able to see whether other people using Jobbit have rated the bidders and whether they would recommend them. Obviously the more people that have recommended them through Jobbit, the more confident you can be in selecting them to do the job.
Jobbit was built by Web Personified, a web development company. Dan's initial intention for the website was actually to just focus on IT, such as computer maintenance or even software development. However, when he talked to Kelly about a joint venture, Kelly suggested extending the idea to include tradesmen – he’d just tried to get someone to fix his roof and couldn’t get a recommendation from anyone.
And so Jobbit was born!
