Managing jobs you have posted

Once you have posted your job you you can sit back and relax. When Tradesmen quote on your job you will receive an email to notify you. You can then login to Jobbit and go to your account at http://www.jobbit.com/myaccount. The screen will look something similar to this:

The MyAccount screen, showing your open jobs

The My Account lets you control anything about your jobs and account. Under the “Jobs I have posted” section you can see all the jobs that you have posted, which jobs have had quotes by tradesmen and also whether any one has asked you a question about any of your jobs.

To view a list of your open jobs, simple click on the plus (+) sign to the right of “Open Jobs”, and you will your list of open jobs appear. Similarly if you want to view a list of jobs showing which ones have got open questions raised against them or a tradesman has provided a quote then click on the plus sign for that list.

The image below shows what the page might look like when you view the list of open quotes:

Tradesmen will have the opportunity to ask questions about your jobs. You will receive an email alert of the question and be able to see it from the MyAccount screen. The screen below shows what you will see for open questions:

To manage a particular job in any of the lists, simply click on it within the list. You will then see a screen similar to that shown below:

An open job with bids and a question on

Here you’ll see what quotes have been provided and also which questions have been asked by tradesmen interested in your job. Her eyou can either reject a quote, shortlist a tradesmen or accept a tradesmen’s quote simply by pressing the appropriate button to the right. If questions have been asked then they will appear similarly to that shown below:

From here you can answer any question. If someone responds to your reply then you can also see and respond to these follow-up questions here.

Use the reject button next to any quote you are unhappy with. This removes the quote from your job, meaning you can focus on the remaining quotes to decide who you will choose for the work. Rejecting the quote will let the Tradesman know that they have been unsuccessful with their quote.

Once you have decided who you would like to do the work, click the accept button. Now you need to arrange with the tradesman when to do the job and when and how to pay. It’s best to keep this recorded in Jobbit so you can both see what has been agreed. You can either edit the description to note what has been agreed or respond to a question from the tradesman.

When the tradesman has started the job we just ask you if you could let us know by using the job state changer. This will be visible in the View Job page once you’ve accepted a quote. It will look something like that shown below – the red circle shows you where the state changer is:

An in progress job with the status change dropdown highlighted

If your tradesman has started work then just select selected. It’s important you come back to tell us when the tradesman has finished the job as well, in which case just simply select Finished. You’ll then be asked to rate the tradesman. Once you have selected the new state you must click on the Update button to save the changes. That’s it. It’s really that simple! I’d just repeat again though – it’s better for you if you record on Jobbit whatever has been agreed by you and the tradesman. It’s not so we can be nosey, it’s so that you can avoid confusion – and, importantly, it acts as a recorded statement of what has been agreed so you can avoid arguments when the bill comes!
